Florida Macaw Conservation Center

Protecting the Future of the Scarlet Macaw

The Florida Macaw Conservation Center is dedicated to the conservation, protection, and responsible repopulation of the endangered Scarlet Macaw. Through rescue, sanctuary care, ethical breeding, education, and public engagement, we are building a future where these remarkable birds can survive and thrive.

Welcome to the Florida Macaw Conservation Center

The Florida Macaw Conservation Center exists to advance the conservation of the endangered Scarlet Macaw through compassionate care, responsible stewardship, and long-term repopulation efforts. Our organization brings together conservation planning, public education, rescue services, sanctuary care, and ethical breeding practices to support one of the world’s most iconic and vulnerable parrots.

At the heart of our work is Macaw World Florida, our rescue and breeding sanctuary program. Macaw World Florida provides a safe and enriching environment for macaws in need while supporting carefully managed breeding efforts that align with our conservation mission.

Together, these programs allow us to care for individual birds while contributing to a larger vision: restoring hope for Scarlet Macaws through protection, partnership, and purpose.

Our Mission

To conserve and support the future of the endangered Scarlet Macaw through rescue, rehabilitation, responsible breeding, public education, and long-term repopulation efforts.

Conservation in Action

At the Florida Macaw Conservation Center, our work focuses on five key areas:

Rescue:

We provide care for macaws that have been neglected, surrendered, displaced, or are otherwise in need of a safe environment.

Sanctuary Care:

Through Macaw World Florida, we offer lifelong care, enrichment, and protection for birds that cannot return to the wild or be placed elsewhere.

Rehabilitation:

We help macaws recover physically and behaviorally through veterinary support, nutrition, enrichment, and specialized care.

Responsible Breeding:

Our breeding program supports long-term conservation goals with a focus on welfare, genetics, and species preservation.

Education:

We raise awareness about Scarlet Macaws, conservation threats, and the responsibility humans share in protecting endangered wildlife.

Why Scarlet Macaws Need Help

Scarlet Macaws face serious threats including habitat loss, illegal wildlife trafficking, human encroachment, and declining natural populations in parts of their range. Conservation requires more than admiration. It requires action, planning, and a commitment to protecting both the species and the ecosystems it depends on.

The Florida Macaw Conservation Center was created in response to that need. By combining direct bird care with conservation education and structured repopulation efforts, we are working to make a lasting difference.

Macaw World Florida

Macaw World Florida is the rescue, rehabilitation, sanctuary, and breeding division of the Florida Macaw Conservation Center. It serves as a safe haven for macaws in need and as a center for conservation-focused care. Here, birds receive individualized attention in an environment designed to support their physical health, behavioral wellness, and long-term well-being.

Macaw World Florida is also a key part of our vision for conservation-based repopulation. By caring for birds responsibly and maintaining high welfare standards, we support the future of Scarlet Macaws while honoring the dignity of every bird in our care.
