Avian-Assisted Intervention
Tweethearts
We are honored to recognize Tweethearts as a partner in advancing compassion-centered, bird-informed support for children, families, and communities. Tweethearts is a not-for-profit educational and intervention program dedicated to the powerful connection between people and birds through avian-assisted intervention.

At the heart of Tweethearts’ work is the belief that birds can play a meaningful role in helping individuals feel more connected, engaged, calm, and supported. Through its programs, Tweethearts uses avian-assisted intervention as a unique and encouraging way to foster social interaction, communication, emotional growth, and positive behavioral development in a variety of educational and supportive settings.

What is Avian-Assisted Intervention?
Avian-assisted intervention is an approach that incorporates birds into structured educational or therapeutic environments to encourage emotional connection, communication, social engagement, and a sense of comfort and trust. As described by Tweethearts, this work can take place in classrooms, small groups, educational settings, clinical settings, and home-based environments, serving individuals from early childhood through adulthood.

Tweethearts’ work reflects the extraordinary impact that birds can have in people’s lives. By creating opportunities for meaningful human-animal connection, their program helps nurture confidence, reduce anxiety, support positive mood and behavior, and open new pathways for learning and relationship-building.

We value organizations like Tweethearts that demonstrate how birds can inspire healing, connection, and hope while deepening public understanding of the important roles avian companions can play in education and intervention.
