Our Mission and Conservation Approach
At the Florida Macaw Conservation Center, we believe effective conservation must be practical, ethical, and sustainable. Our mission goes beyond rescue alone. We work to protect Scarlet Macaws through a coordinated approach that combines individual care, species awareness, managed breeding, and long-term repopulation planning.
Our Conservation Philosophy
Our philosophy is rooted in the understanding that conservation requires both compassion and structure. Individual birds need excellent care, but species survival also requires planning, education, collaboration, and a commitment to responsible stewardship.

We are guided by the following principles:

-
Every bird deserves safe, humane, and enriching care

-
Conservation efforts must prioritize welfare and ethics

-
Public education is essential to long-term species protection

-
Responsible breeding can play a role in preserving endangered populations

-
Conservation work is strongest when it is transparent, informed, and mission-centered
How Our Model Works
Rescue
We provide a pathway to safety for macaws that have been surrendered, neglected, displaced, or are otherwise in need of care.
Rehabilitation
Birds entering our care receive evaluation, support, and a tailored care plan designed to improve their health and well-being.
Sanctuary
For birds that require long-term placement, Macaw World Florida offers a secure and enriched sanctuary environment.
Breeding
Our breeding efforts are guided by conservation goals, welfare standards, and responsible management practices intended to support the long-term future of the Scarlet Macaw.
Education
We work to educate the public about endangered parrots, the threats they face, and the importance of ethical wildlife care and conservation.
Long-Term Goals
Our long-term goals include:

-
Expanding awareness about the endangered status of the Scarlet Macaw.

Ethical Standards
We are committed to conservation practices that prioritize the well-being of birds at every stage. Our work is guided by humane care, appropriate housing, enrichment, veterinary oversight, careful breeding decisions, and respect for the complex social and behavioral needs of macaws.

We do not view birds as exhibits or commodities. We view them as intelligent, social living beings who deserve dignity, safety, and expert care.
